HEAD START
Head Start services promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children in a classroom setting and by providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services to children and families. Parental engagement is emphasized. Services for parents include goal setting and support, parenting classes and opportunities for parents to network. Head Start classrooms are located in Eugene, Florence, Junction City, Lowell, Oakridge, and Springfield.

Eligibility: Families with children ages 3-5. Families with incomes at or below 100% FPL are eligible. Children in foster care, homeless children, and children from families receiving public assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Supplemental Security Income) are eligible regardless of income. Families with higher incomes and specific needs may also be eligible, but families with higher needs are prioritized.
Hours: Part-Day Head Start: 3 1/2 hours per day, Monday-Thursday, during the school year only.
Extended Day Head Start: 6 hours per day, Monday-Friday, during the school year only.
Full Day Head Start: 10 hours per day, Monday-Friday, full year. (For working or student parents).
