The Oregon Department of Revenue provides assistance with information about questions regarding adjustments to tax accounts, IRS notifications, tax payment plans, levies on wages or bank accounts, other tax-related issues, and consumer fraud.

The Oregon Department of Revenue administers Oregon tax laws and collects taxes for over 30 programs. Taxes include, but are not limited to, business, personal income, property, timber, tobacco, state income, corporate, and inheritance tax. This office provides information about online tax filing. State tax refund status and information about outstanding state tax amounts due are available on the website.

Provides free state tax payer information assistance year-round and state and federal free tax filing preparation referral during the federal tax season.

Provides information about exemption programs. There are over 100 programs in Oregon. Exemptions can be either full or partial, depending on the program requirements and the extent to which the property is used in a qualifying manner.

Most exemptions granted to non-governmental entities are granted to religious, fraternal, literary, benevolent, or charitable organizations. The exempt property must be reasonably necessary and used in a way to achieve the organization’s purpose. Any portion of the property that does not meet the requirements of the exemption program is taxable.

Some property is taxed at a reduced value through a special assessment program. In that case, the lower assessed value results in a reduced tax liability. Examples of special assessment programs include historic property, farmland, forest land, and conservation easement.

Qualified senior and disabled citizens can "borrow" from the State of Oregon to pay property taxes to the county. If approved, the Oregon Department of Revenue (DOR) will pay county property taxes on November 15 of each year. A lien is placed on the property and DOR becomes a security interest holder.
