NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER
FOSTER CARE SUPPORT
Assists youth and families who are involved with state or tribal foster care systems. Provides culturally appropriate individual and family-based support services to help build understanding and maintain Native cultural traditions, assists youth and families in identifying and accessing community resources, and supports families with reunification or in finding other permanent homes. Foster Care support services include various group meetings and support classes.

Also works to recruit new foster families from the Native American community and support them through the certification process. Support services include Positive Indian Parenting classes, Sibling and Family Night events, Foster Parent Support night, and genealogy and regalia assistance.

TREATMENT FOSTER CARE
Treatment Foster Care (TFC) providers work with children and families involved in juvenile justice and child welfare. Wraparound services include respite care, 24-hour/7/365 day support, guidance from a multidisciplinary team providing individual and family therapy, and skills training. TFC providers receive continuing training, weekly support groups, and a monthly reimbursement. Youth in TFC are ages 4-18 that are part of Oregon DHS Child Welfare referred by Oregon DHS Child Welfare or the Oregon Youth Authority.

MENTOR PROGRAM
The Mentor Program is designed to provide diversion services as a residential alternative to Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) Youth Correctional Facilities. These youths are court-involved and on probation or parole to OYA for out of home placement. The length of the program is between 6 months and 18 months in a proctor home setting.

The Mentor Program provides skills training, individual, group, and family counseling. Outpatient Alcohol and Drug services are available in the community, provided through the Mid-Valley Behavior Care Network. Assessments and recommendations are provided to facilitate case planning. Family involvement is required whenever possible in developing individual treatment, family treatment or parent training plans.

PROCTOR (FOSTER) PARENTING
A Proctor home is a highly trained, specialized foster home. Proctor homes are screened and trained professional Proctor Parents who are an integral part of the Service Team. They must be flexible, have a high level of tolerance and, above all, a good sense of humor. New Proctor Parents typically receive a minimum of 32 hours of in-depth training provided by staff, current proctor parents, and resources such as OYA and DHS before youth are placed and are involved in on-going monthly training. Proctor Parents attend weekly and monthly staff meetings, log behaviors, implement service plans, and write progress notes.
