Promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children in a classroom setting and by providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services to children and families. Parental involvement is emphasized. Services for parents include parenting classes and parent support and networking. Head Start classrooms are located in Bend, La Pine, Prineville, and Redmond.

Classes meet four days per week throughout the school year and may be either half- or full-day depending on location. Children receive individualized education.
