INDIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM
Offers learning, leadership, and cultural activities that engage Native youth and support a positive cultural identity. Provides culturally appropriate educational support to Native students, including tutoring and credit recovery, and supports Native families’ involvement in students’ education.

TUTORING AND LEARNING CENTER
Offers one-on-one after-school tutoring services. Youth Advocates, college-level volunteers, and community members help students with their homework and other school-related projects. Volunteers can also tutor students who are struggling in a specific subject area. Students have access to a computer lab. Dinner is served every afternoon.

Students who regularly participate in tutoring services are eligible to participate in field trips. Transportation is available on a limited basis for middle and elementary school students.

NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER
EDUCATIONAL YOUTH ADVOCACY AND ENGAGEMENT
Advocates work with students and their families to create measurable goals based on the 4 quadrants of the Relational Worldview Model: Mind, Body, Spirit, and Context. The program includes:
-Wraparound case management and advocacy services
-College visitations, life skills workshops, employment skill-building, and scholarship/financial aid workshops
-School-based tutoring and after-school homework support
-Building culturally relevant skills and increasing cultural pride and identity
-Incentives, stipends, summer meals, meals during the school year, after-school snacks, clothing, hygiene items, school supply vouchers, and monetary assistance for participating youth

Eligibility: -Portland Public School District: K-12th grade self-identified Native American youth
-Successful Families 2020: K-12th grade self-identified Native American youth enrolled in select schools within David Douglas and Reynolds school districts.
-SUN Youth Advocacy: 5th-10th grade self-identified Native American youth enrolled in select schools within Centennial, David Douglas, Gresham-Barlow, Parkrose, Portland Public, and Reynolds school districts.
OR
Region 3: 5th-10th grade any race/ethnicity enrolled in the following schools: Alice Ott Middle, Cherry Park Elementary, Gilbert Heights Elementary, Gilbert Park Elementary, Parkrose High, Parkrose Middle, Prescott Elementary, Sacramento Elementary, and Shaver Elementary
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-6pm, some evening hours for events
