Matches moderate-income households with attorneys willing to work for reduced fees. Modest Means attorneys handle only family law, criminal defense, foreclosure, and landlord/tenant matters. There are a limited number of Modest Means attorneys, and they are not available in all areas of Oregon.

Eligibility: Eligibility depends on the type of legal matter, client income and assets, and availability of participating lawyers. The program is intended to help those who earn too much to qualify for legal aid, but who cannot afford traditional legal fees. Legal matter must be in Oregon and both parties must live in Oregon.

MILITARY ASSISTANCE PANEL
Administers a referral panel that lists lawyers willing to provide volunteer legal assistance (pro bono) primarily related to the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act (SCRA), which provides additional legal protection to persons entering or called to active duty in the US Armed Forces. Many volunteer lawyers also assist with family law, consumer/credit law, real property/landlord-tenant law, and estate planning issues.

Connects clients facing a family, housing, or consumer law issue with lawyers who offer legal assistance at a reduced cost. Does not provide immediate assistance. It can take up to three weeks to place a case and the program cannot guarantee a referral.
